Bath Salts for Hard Water
- ½ cup epsom salts
- ¼ cup baking soda
- ¼ tsp. Borax (can buy at any grocery or drug store)
- 5 - 10 drops of your favourite essential oil
A couple of heaping tablespoons of this in a bath softens the water. The whole batch will relax you enough to put you to sleep.
Scented Bath Oil for Dry Skin
(This can also be used as a massage oil, too.)
- 1/2 cup sweet almond oil or olive oil
- 2 Tbsp. avocado oil (can buy at natural food stores
- 10 drops geranium essential oil
- 3 drops sandalwood essential oil
Use 1 - 2 teaspoons in a bath.
Scented Bath Oil for Sensitive Skin
(This can be used as a massage oil, too.)
- 1/2 cup grapeseed oil
- 5 drops rose; or 10 drops chamomile; or 10 drops lavender essential oil
Use 1 - 2 teaspoons in a bath.
Scented Bath Oil for Mature Skin
(This can be used as a massage oil, too.)
- 1/2 cup safflower oil
- 8 drops lavender essential oil
- 8 drops bergamot essential oil
- 4 drops ylang-ylang essential oil (optional)
Use 1 - 2 teaspoons in a bath.
Sea Salt Body Scrub
(Great way to exfoliate and smooth skin. Also moisturizes skin to make it feel silky.)
- ¼ cup fine sea salt (not too coarse but not powdery)
- ¼ cup oil of your choice (good choices are sunflower, grapeseed, olive, or sweet almond)
- 1 teaspoon NSP concentrate
- 5 - 10 drops essential oil of your choice
Combine the salt and oil. Stir in the NSP concentrate and then stir in the essential oils.
To use:
- Stand in a bathtub or shower stall.
- Rinse quickly to remove excess perspiration and daily grime.
- Dip a corner of a facecloth in the scrub.
- Work the scrub onto the skin in a circular motion starting from the feet and working upwards.
- BE GENTLE.
- Rinse with warm water to remove scrub. Do not use soap. This will wash away the beneficial effects of the scrub.
- Pat dry.
Floral Body Powder
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 5 drops lavender or geranium essential oil
- 3 drops bergamot essential oil
- 1 drop ylang-ylang or rose essential oil
- 1 drop patchouli or sandalwood essential oil
Sprinkle oil into cornstarch. Shake vigourously to combine and prevent clumping. Cover and let sit overnight to allow oils to permeate the powder.
Woodsy Body Powder
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 5 drops lemon or grapefruit essential oil
- 3 drops rosemary essential oil
- 2 drops frankincense or sandalwood essential oil
Sprinkle oil into cornstarch. Shake vigourously to combine and prevent clumping. Cover and let sit overnight to allow oils to permeate the powder.
Baby Powder
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. rice flour or fine oat flour (can be made by whiling oats in blender till powdery)
- 1 capsule slippery elm, opened (optional)
- 5 drops lavender; or 3 drops geranium; or 1 drop rose essential oil
Blend the cornstarch with the rice, oat flour or slippery elm. Rub in the essential oils. Cover and let sit overnight to allow oils to permeate the powder.
Nail and Cuticle Oil
- 2 Tbsp. jojoba oil
- 2 Tbsp. sunflower, olive sweet almond or other vegetable oil
- 8 drops lavender, rosemary, geranium or eucalyptus oil
- Contents of 1 capsule Vitamin E
Massage one or two drops of mixture into fingernails or toe nails after washing.
Foot Powder
(Refreshing and controls bacteria, too.)
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 drops peppermint; or 5 drops rosemary; or 5 drops lavender essential oil
- 1 drop thyme linalol essential oil
Sprinkle oil into cornstarch. Shake vigourously to combine and prevent clumping. Cover and let sit overnight to allow oils to permeate the powder. Put in a covered spice jar with a shaker top. Sprinkle on feet.
Facial Oil for Dry Skin
(Use after washing to moisturize skin. Apply sparingly.)
- 2 tsp. sunflower oil
- 1 tsp. sweet almond or olive oil
- 4 drops chamomile or 1 drop rose essential oil
- 2 drops ylang-ylang essential oil
- 2 drops frankincense or sandalwood essential oil
- Contents of 1 Vitamin E capsule
Facial Oil for Normal or Comination Skin
(Use after washing to moisturize skin. Apply sparingly.)
- 1 Tbsp. sunflower oil
- 4 drops bergamot essential oil
- 4 drops lavender or geranium essential oil
- Contents of 1 Vitamin E capsule
Facial Oil for Mature Skin
(Use after washing to moisturize skin. Apply sparingly.)
- 3 tsp. sunflower oil
- 4 drops lavender essential oil
- 3 drops myrhh or frankincense essential oil
- Contents of 1 Vitamin E capsule
Facial Oil for Oily Skin
(Use after washing to draw out excess oil and prevent blemishes. Apply sparingly. Do not use this one if allergic to peanuts.)
- 1 Tbsp. peanut oil
- 4 drops lavender or geranium essential oil
- 6 drops lemon essential oil (avoid exposing face to sun!)
- Contents of 2 Vitamin E capsules
Baby Oil
(Good for diaper rash. Gentle for kids. Can be used as a massage oil or for anyone with dry skin.)
- 1/3 cup sunflower oil
- 1/3 cup sweet almond oil
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 5 drops lavender; or 2 drops chamomile; or 1 drop rose essential oil
- Contents of 1 Vitamin E capsule
Baby Bottom Barrier Ointment
(Great for preventing little bottoms from getting chafed when wet.)
- 2 Tbsp. pure unbleached beeswax
- ½ cup sweet almond or olive oil
- Contents of 2 Vitamin E capsules
- 5 drops lavender
Gently heat the beeswax and oil until just melted but not too hot. Remove from heat. Stir in the contents of the Vitamin E capsules and the essential oil. Blend well. Store covered in a cool place or refrigerator.
Honey Ointment for Dry Skin
(Honey is a humectant which means it attracts and holds moisture. Great for dry skin and for kids, too.)
- ½ cup sweet almond oil
- 2 Tbsp. pure unbleached beeswax
- 1 Tbsp. liquid honey
- Contents of 1 Lecithin capsule
- Contents of 1 Vitamin E capsule
- 5 drops chamomile or geranium essential oil
Gently heat the oil, beeswax and honey until just melted. Remove from heat. Stir in the contents of the lecithin and Vitamin E capsules and the essential oil. Blend well. Store covered in a cool place.
